Sports Direct grows its online business
Sports Direct says 4.5% of its UK sales were online in its latest financial year – and it is looking at ways to grow its internet business further. The figure, published in its full-year results this week, marks a significant rise for the retailer. In the previous year, 1.5% of sales were online. eBay UK sees 18% rise in new business sellers since recession
eBay UK has proved a significant outlet for entrepreneurship during the recession, with the number of new businesses registered on it growing by nearly a fifth since the recession started. eBay says 25,000 businesses have registered on the UK auction site since September 2008, taking the total to 140,000, a jump of 18%. International sales now more than a third of Asos’ business
More than a third of fashion website Asos’ sales now come from overseas, the company revealed as it reported its latest results. Asos,which marked its tenth anniversary last month, said 37% of total retail sales were now international after more than doubling in value in the last year.
